Company Timeline: A History of Milestones

  • 1972 – Founded as School Bus Parts Co. Canada, operating out of a coach house on Jim Reavell’s property.
  • 1976 – First facility expansion to accommodate early growth.
  • 1982 – Formation of B.M.R. Mfg. Inc. as the manufacturing division and second manufacturer of school bus stop arms in North America.
  • 1990 – Development of patented stop arm technology attracted major OEM and retrofit interest.
  • 1991 – Introduction of the Yellow Polycarbon Crossing Gate.
  • 1995 – Entered the 911-property identification market with new sign-printing capabilities.
  • 1997 – Moved to a larger plant to meet increased demand from school bus OEMs and the retrofit market.
  • 2001 – Launch of the BMR 8000 series: the first weather-resistant, remote-controlled stop arm and crossing gate system.
  • 2002 – Introduction of the Permanent Magnetic Gate Lock to eliminate wind-related gate damage.
  • 2003 – Added Brake Test Functionality to the BMR 8000 series.
  • 2004 – Transitioned to LED lighting for brighter, more reliable stop arms.
  • 2005 – Developed contoured crossing gate arms, building on innovations dating back to 1991.
  • 2009 – Introduced a dual-chevron mounting bracket for bi-directional roadside visibility.
  • 2012 – Created a flip sign to convert RB-76 signage from seasonal to year-round messaging.
  • 2013 – Development of a 60cm TC-22 Sign with an adjustable 7’ handle
  • 2014 – Developed a 90 x 120 cm A-frame aluminum workstand for larger signs like “Do Not Enter” and “Road Closed”.
  • 2015 – Introduction of the BMR Fire Hydrant Reflective Markers
  • 2015 – New development of the 2015 Ford Transit Crossing Gate
  • 2018 – Development of control module to adapt to 12/24V applications for school bus crossing gates and stop arms
  • 2020 – Added a second 54” digital printer to our capabilities to ensure faster turn around times for our customers
  • 2020 – New development of the 2020 Ford Transit Crossing Gate
  • 2022 – Expanded our warehouse to hold up to 4x more regulatory signage to have available to municipal customers
  • 2023 – Expanded our silkscreen operations to include new tables and screens
  • 2025 – Currently developing advanced technologies for Stop Arms and Crossing Gates – more to come soon
